Kweku Yeboah

Kweku Yeboah is a Ghanaian photographer living and working in Accra, Ghana. His work is inspired by Ghana’s multi-ethnic, diverse population, consisting of different cultures and beliefs. “One of my favorite things is spotting daily occurrences in the Accra scene, through music and colors of individual clothing or styles of dress. I get to see different types of African style, fashion in different colors and rare accessories worn by diverse individuals which excites me to document or create them.” Yeboah’s work is shot from varying angles in order to keep his viewers in suspense; “it’s a way of disturbing the comfortable and comforting the disturbed.” His work reflects people, community, social life, religion and the freedom of youth. He strives for a uniqueness, uncommon to the subjects he shoots; “Being a creative takes courage but if we take the easy way, we will never change.” Yeboah’s signature works have a natural feel, using the street for his studio, sunlight as his strobe and the beaten city walls as backdrops for his narrative; “I actually don’t wait for inspiration because it comes as I’m working.”
