Javiera Estrada
Javiera Estrada is an American artist living and working in Los Angeles, California. Born in Mexico, she moved to the US as a child and trained in both classical piano and violin, which continues to inspire and influence her aesthetic. Upon graduating from Santa Monica College, Estrada emerged as a multifarious artist; working in traditional photography, mixed media, sculpture, installation, and film. A seeker of the spiritual, Estrada’s lens strives to create the perfect amalgamation between the real and the ethereal, exploring the complexities of the subconscious mind; “I believe that every piece created is a self-portrait, a physical expression of that inner nameless world our souls inhabit.” Estrada’s process is multi-layered, unobstructed by time; “It is imperative to allow my subconscious to move freely without the interference of the conscious mind, unobstructed by restrictions of logic. Consequently, it is only midway through the process that I am able to withdraw from the intensity of the inspired work, analyze and discover the essence which gradually reveals itself.”
Estrada has exhibited in galleries throughout the US, Europe, and Asia, and her work is part of private and corporate collections worldwide. She won Art Slant’s juried competition in 2014, and her first short film “The Dream” was selected in Best of Shorts at the Carmel International Film Festival in 2017. In 2020, her solo show in Las Vegas was awarded a Certificate of Special Congressional Commendation for the Arts from the United States Congress.
